A series of poems written in prose that is at times rhythmic other times not.    Little “white” lies is about love of truth and love of self.   I need to look at myself in the mirror so I must see who I am realistically. Some poems are harsh, such as: What color is the Devil?  The poem discusses the color of the Devil and the color of God.   What color do you think the devil is?

The Bridge is an event of 1990 when the People of the Pines wanted to preserve their ancestral land and cemetery, and the Bridge was blocked to save lives.

Polygamy is a series that gives women who have gone through polygamy a voice; it speaks of their inner struggle.

Prostitutes and prostitution   a very different look, it speaks of women who made a difference regardless of the label.    What was and is the oldest profession?

Little “White” Lies is my personal spiritual path it records my history from a philosophical lens speaking truthfully about the "self" and "the other".  It is about taking responsibility for what some my ancestors did, adding the voices of the other ancestors.

Looking at the concept of God and man-made god but also including the Devil, who is the devil?   The Bible and the lessons learned, it is finding inspiration in the voice of women and looking at modern day Biblical personalities.   Some poems are about Mohawks, people of Kahnawake, the bridge, reporters and much more.

Little “White” Lies is about loving myself and hence loving others, based three  ideas “Know thyself”, “we are all equal but different”  and “it takes a village to bring up a child”  in my case it took the world.

I love your poetry in Little "Whte" Lies because it doesn’t skirt around the issue of the grip of patriarchy on society.  It attacks patriarchy head-on.  Your insight into the struggles that women face in their every-day lives to overcome patriarchal oppression is brilliant.   Nancy Mereska
